Comfort Caring Canines - DOG THERAPY GROUP - Information Session: Tuesday, October 26, 2010 - 7 PM

Have you ever wanted more information about therapy dogs and wondered if your dog could be a visiting therapy dog? Buzzy’s is holding an information session with Comfort Caring Canines dog therapy group on Tuesday, October 26 at 7 pm. You will learn what therapy dog work is all about and what’s required to be a member. Do not bring your dog to the orientation. If you have a training certificate, bring a copy of it so CCC can verify that the course meets their requirements.

Comfort Caring Canines is a dedicated group of volunteers who share the love of their canine companions – trained and tested Therapy Dogs – with others. CCC is a non-profit organization supported through dues and testing fees, donations and sponsorships. CCC does not charge for any visits.

CCC dog/handler teams visit community nursing homes, elementary schools, hospitals and senior citizen centers in the southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland areas. Volunteers decide where and when they visit. Evening, weekend and daytime hours are available. Premier hospitals like Fox Chase Cancer Center only accept a few therapy dog certifications, one of which is CCC.

Therapy dogs must be at least 1 year old, well-socialized, non-aggressive and immaculately groomed. They must be licensed, current on all inoculations, and have successfully completed basic obedience training. Handlers must be at least 18 years old, attend an orientation and make 2 visits with current members. The handler/dog team must then pass the CCC 2-part test.
