Distinguished Dobermans Rescue, Inc.Distinguished Dobermans Rescue, Inc. (D.D.R.I.) is a non-profit, charitable organization whose primary mission is to give abandoned Dobermans a second chance at finding a loving, safe and suitable forever homes. They also educate potential adopters, as well as the general public, about the Doberman breed, Doberman myths, the importance of spaying/neutering, puppy mill awareness and the benefits of training classes. This is done in an attempt to decrease the amount of unwanted Dobermans. The Dobermans come from shelters or are turned over by their owners who are no longer able or willing to care for them. Prior to placement, each Doberman’s temperament is evaluated, they are spayed/neutered, heart worm tested and treated if necessary, vaccinated and taught basic obedience and manners. They attempt to create the best match between Doberman and adoptive home based on the evaluations. This organization also networks with several other rescues and shelters, and assists other organizations when possible. |

Doberman Assistance Network, Inc.Doberman Assistance Network’s (DAN’s) mission is to provide a second chance to Dobermans that are in shelters and are in urgent need of rescue. To accomplish this mission, DAN will work in conjunction with shelters and reputable rescue groups, to provide services to the rescue groups to assist them in their efforts. Said services shall include, but not be limited to, pulling, vetting, transporting, fostering and placing the rescued doberman into an approved, loving, dependable, forever home. In the event no rescue is available to assist a Doberman in urgent need of rescue, DAN may independently undertake the activities previously mentioned. Doberman Assistance Network was founded in October of 2007 when people from various parts of the Doberman community came together to form DAN, a non-profit organization which officially started January 1, 2008. K-9 FundraisingK-9 Dog Fundraising
Buzzy's has met with children, parents and members of the Lower Merion K-9 Unit to launch the fundraising to raise $7,500 to purchase and train the next K-9 dog for the Lower Merion Police Department. Buzzy’s has purchased several thousand large unique shopping bags which are being contributed by Buzzy’s to launch this fundraising effort. Bags will be sold at Buzzy’s for a contribution of $15, or more if the purchaser wishes to contribute more. Each bag will contain a $10 coupon to purchase goods at Buzzy’s. (One bag purchaser will also WIN a $250 shopping spree at Buzzy's.) 100% of all proceeds from the sale of the bags will be forwarded to the Lower Merion Police Department’s K-9 Unit as fundraising revenue toward the acquisition of the K-9 dog. Buzzy’s also has contribution jars in the store for donations directly toward this K-9 fundraising effort. The dog acquired will be a German Shepard who will spend 14 weeks in training with its Lower Merion K-9 Unit handler at the Philadelphia Police Academy. K-9 dogs, throughout their working career, receive 2 additional days per month of continual training. Lower Merion has 4 dogs, 1 assigned to each patrol squad, trained in basic patrol, including tracking, article/evidence searches, building searches, criminal apprehension, agility and obedience. Two of the dogs are also trained in narcotics detection and two are trained in explosives detection. Children and families will have the opportunity to participate in the naming of this newest addition to Lower Merion’s K-9 Unit.
